We read the book Chrysanthemum and focused on hurtful words. Each time Chrysanthemum's feelings were hurt, we wrinkled the red heart. After we all tried to smooth out the wrinkles but had little success. This lead to an active discussion about how we should always think before we speak and to always remember the "Golden Rule"!

Repeated addition, equal groups and arrays are all possible strategies when solving a multiplication problem. We used candy corn, animal crackers and got to write on the teacher table with dry erase markers! "This is fun" was heard over and over again as they began to grasp the concepts! This will be coming home for homework next week!
